The first step...

Another day another blog...sounds uber corny but for me, I guess it's true. The main reason this blog is here is 'coz

You see, I already have 2 blogs. Ultra nerdy hey. But I'm going to try and convince you it's not :)

A year and 2 weeks ago I started a blog called FarmboyandCitygirlhitAsia to document my boyfriend's (from hereon only referred to as Farmboy) and my journey across the globe to South Korea to teach English.

As a 'Native' English Teacher (or 'Guest' English Teacher as they are calling us/them these days, you have quite a lot of time on your hands. Before we left for Korea I didn't even know what the term "blog" meant, nevermind terms like "blogosphere", "link back" or "post". But when one has excess time, to prevent oneself from becoming one of the many drunken and lazy foreigners that seem to populate the English Teaching World these days (so as not to stand on too many peoples toes there are lots and lots of GREAT Teachers out there too!), where was I....umm...ah yes, to prevent myself from getting too bored, I decided (along with the majority of other English Teachers in Korea) to start a blog...whew...long sentence...no full stop...do I even sound like I should be influencing young Asian minds?? Another question for another day.

But back to the start of my first blog, well it turned out to be not only fun but also quite useful for my friends. I decided not to make it personal, focusing rather on how to get to Korea, frequently asked questions about life there, and of course loads and loads of info on places to see and things to do in and around Daejeon, the city we were based in.

I thought it would be fun (and would make me feel even cooler *you might choose the term 'ultra-nerd' to describe what I did next*) and that was to get a domain name and go "dot.com". So now, Farmboyandcitygirlhitasia has become Farmbyandcitygirl.com.

So that's all and well but I'm sure your thinking what that has to do with "CityGirl Searching". Well...here's the thing. I graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature & Organizational Psychology from Rhodes University in 2009. Then headed straight to Korea to teach English to cute kiddies, and now I'm back. And the question everyone has been bombarding me with is "What Next?!". I mean there's only so much one can do with a B.A...well Im going to prove all those who think a BA stands for "bugger all" wrong!

To be honest, I have no idea how to yet. And I don't think I'm the only one.

So thats why I have started this blog. Hopefully with my honed skills in researching *from spending countless hours sitting at my desk doing nothing in Korea* I may gain some direction in life. And maybe, just maybe, help others out there to do the same.

So here's to that thought!

*and here's to hopefully more people reading this blog than just my mom and Grandparents :)
